CGS Hawk Aviation
USA Part 103 Buyer’s GuideCGS Hawk Aviation
Two thousand five hundred Hawks are flying. Forty-plus years of design pedigree, still in production, still supported with factory parts. The Bob Santom family bought the single-place rights in 2017 and kept the line alive. Kits only. There is no factory ready-to-fly.
2,500HAWKS FLYING
The largest single-seat kit fleet in USA Part 103. Every problem you will hit, 2,500 people hit first, and the factory still stocks parts for aircraft built decades ago.
Published today: $12,500 base kit.

The lineup
Three Part 103 Hawks.
The enclosed-cockpit Part 103 Hawk. Base kit price is the one number CGS publishes; everything else is quoted.
The open-cockpit variant, for people who came here for the wind.
Named for the rule it is built to. Ask CGS how it differs from the Ultra before you order.
Not every Hawk is a Part 103 Hawk
The Hawk Single Classic I, Arrow, Sport, and Plus are not Part 103. Two-place Hawks are a different company entirely: Terry Short at cgsaviation.com. Same name, same lineage, different aircraft and different rules.
Who it suits
- Pilots who want to join the biggest owner community in the category.
- Buyers who want a legacy design that is still in active production, not a museum piece.
- Existing Hawk owners who need factory parts and technical support.
- First-time builders who want documentation and 2,500 predecessors to learn from.
What you give up
- No factory ready-to-fly. Every purchase is a builder kit.
- Beyond the base kit, pricing is a phone call rather than a posted sheet.
- Multiple variants mean you have to research the trim differences before you order.

Part 103 compliance is yours
An aircraft marketed as Part 103 capable can exceed the 254 lb powered empty-weight limit once engines, instruments, and options are added. You weigh the finished vehicle and you confirm compliance with 14 CFR 103 before you fly it. See the Part 103 disclaimer.
